What we do
Create Ability is an arts service providing creative activities for people with learning disabilities, autism, physical impairments, complex needs and dementia. Based in Farnham, we work in the Surrey and Hampshire area. Our art sessions are person-centred, encouraging our participants to develop their personal skills and abilities in a supportive, fun environment. We provide opportunities for people to express their interests, ideas and hobbies through personal, creative projects. We assist our participants to engage with festivals, celebrations, seasons and themes in a creative, life enhancing way. We also enjoy creating group art works. We believe that engaging with the visual arts is an enriching experience, encompassing self expression, personal development, sensory stimulation, social interactions and a sense of enjoyment. Create Ability sessions provide opportunities to explore a wide range of artistic media, including painting, collage, textiles, ceramics, paper-mache and print making. We exhibit our artistic work and participate in local events, endeavouring to raise the profile and presence of people with disabilities in the wider community. |
Our Values
- We value close working relationships based on respect, trust and empathy.
- We value working in partnership with organisations, care agencies and family members towards positive outcomes for our participants.
- We value bringing our service to those who may experience difficulties accessing the wider community.
We exhibit at the "Blooming Art" exhibition, St Andrew's Christmas Tree Festival and the "Unseen Artists" at Farnham Maltings.
