Scientific research suggests that being in nature or viewing images of nature promotes positive emotions. Studies looking at experiencing landscapes during a walk, viewing images and having flora and fauna in our environments, have found these to improve our general well being.
People with disabilities, including those living in care homes, may have limited access to nature due to issues of transport, accessibility and personal health. Connecting with nature through art can provide a pathway to enjoying the benefits of contact with the natural world. This can include looking at photographic images and the work of artists who have been inspired by nature, as well as making personal artwork.
